Preliminary investigation of plant species in Baicheng grassland

Plant species of Baicheng sheep breeding pasture which is located in southern foot of Tianshan Mountains were investigated through field investigation and making quadrat. The results showed that there are 82 plant species belonging to 73 genera of 28 families in this area. Phanerophytes(PH), chamaephytes(CH), hemicryptophyte(HK), cryptophytes(C) and therophytes(T) are 3.66%, 17.07%, 47.56%, 12.20% and 19.51%, sorted by life form. Legumes, grasses, composites, chenopodiaceae, cyperaceae and forbs are 9.76%, 15.85%, 14.63%, 9.76%, 1.22% and 48.78%, sorted by economic groups. The percentages of excellent plants, good plants, general plants, bad plants and poisonous plants are 20.73%, 28.05%, 25.61% and 13.41%, sorted by nutritional values. Baicheng Grassland is rich in plant species, with little bushes and poisonous plants, and its dominant plant species are palatable and abundant in nutrients. So it is a good pasture.
